Mémoires Incarneés d'Auroville Introduction - Ep.1
What if a city could tell its own story through the people who live it?
For more than half a century, Auroville has been a place where people from different backgrounds have come together to explore new ways of living, working and building a community. Its history lives in the memories, experiences and stories of the people who have lived and continue to live here.
The Program “Mémoires Incarneés d'Auroville (Embodied Memories of Auroville)” explores these individual, collective and transgenerational memories, asking how Auroville’s experiences and founding values are passed from one generation to another, and how they continue to be questioned and lived out.
In this introductory episode, theatre director Fabrice Nicot, researcher Suryamayi Clarence-Smith, and artist Kripa Borg introduce themselves, share their backgrounds and present the project and its vision. Through artistic workshops, conversations and performance-based exploration, the project invites Aurovilians to explore memory through speech, the body, emotions and creative practice.
The project is a research-creation-action initiative led by Fabrice Nicot and co-led by Suryamayi Clarence-Smith, Kripa Borg and artist Krishna Devanandan of the Magic Lantern Trust in India. It seeks to explore not only what Auroville remembers, but also what these lived memories might offer to the world today.
Join us in exploring the memories and stories that continue to shape Auroville.
